List of Household Recyclable items accepted in the Brandon MRF:

 Food and beverage containers must be emptied of contents and should be rinsed before disposal in recycling bins, to prevent the contamination of other recyclable materials.  DO NOT put your recyclables in black/green/white garbage bags – it will be treated as garbage. 

The following are examples of some of the items that ARE NOT ACCEPTED in the residential and commercial recycling programs operated in the Brandon Material Recovery Facility, and should be disposed of appropriately:

 

1.                  #3 & #6 plastics – i.e. - packaging materials (Sytrofoam, plastic wrap), fast food packaging.

2.                  PVC – PolyVinyl Chloride – i.e. plumbing pipe, plastic conduit, etc.

3.                  Aluminum foil or foil pie plates, baking sheets, pots & pans, and metal containers.

4.                  Household hazardous waste containers, such as – antifreeze, motor oil, bleach, etc., identified by the danger symbols: corrosive, explosive, poison and flammable.

5.                  Hazardous waste – batteries, oil, lubricants, paint, solvents, engine coolant, acids, etc.

6.                  Drinking glasses, ceramics or cookware

7.                  Appliances & Electronics

8.                  Clothing

9.                  Furniture

10.              Metal items (other than food and beverage containers)

11.              Mirrors, window glass, light bulbs, etc.

12.              Construction debris - wood, lumber, household fixtures, windows, siding, shingles, etc.

13.              Automotive parts, tires, wheel rims, etc.

14.              Yard waste, branches, leaves, etc.
