Emergency Response

911 provides residents with Police, Fire and Ambulance protection. Fire and ambulance service is provided through the City of Brandon and Canadian Forces Base Shilo Fire Departments. Primary policing is provided by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Electricity and Natural Gas

These services are provided by Manitoba Hydro.

The Municipality is served by the Rolling River, Southwest Horizon and Brandon School Divisions.

Academic Institutions

Brandon University, Assiniboine Community College and the Manitoba Emergency Services College offer a wide range of post secondary studies.

Hospitals

The Municipality is a part of the Brandon Regional Health Authority, which operates among many other services and facilities, the Brandon Regional Health Centre.

Transportation

The Municipality manages a network of approximately 200 miles of roadway. These roadways connect with several Provincial Highways which run through the Municipality including the Trans Canada Highway (PTH 1), PTH 1A PTH 10, PTH 110, PR 457, PR 459, PR 468, PR 340, PR 348, PR349.

The Municipality is served by air, rail, and motorcoach.

Several taxi companies provide a service connecting Brandon and Shilo area.

Recreation

The Blue Hills of Brandon and its Wildlife Management Area, provide cross country skiing enthusiasts with challenging trails which are ideal for hiking in warmer weather. Riding Mountain National Park, as well as Sprucewoods and Turtle Mountain Provincial Parks are all less than ninety minute away by car. Many other Provincial and Municipal attractions are in close proximity.

Waste & Recycling Transfer Stations

The Municipal Transfer Stations are provided for recycling and the disposal of waste for Residents and Property Owners in the RM of Cornwallis.

Residents who take waste directly to the City of Brandon landfill site will be responsible for paying the City of Brandon's landfill charges.

The Transfer Station's have on site attendants available to direct the proper disposal of waste and recycling. Please assist them by properly separating and disposing of waste and recycling in the designated areas.
